Why develop a Travel Plan

The Welsh Assembly Government believes Travel Plans are one of the most efficient and socially responsible ways to tackle transport related problems.

A Travel Plan can address how staff and visitors access a site and can cover any of the following:

• commuter travel
• business travel and fleet management
• deliveries
• working policies which reduce the need to travel

A Travel Plan can help an organisation:

• meet corporate environmental and social responsibility targets
• meet Green Dragon and Corporate Health Standards
• reduce the carbon impact of the business
• improve accessibility to the site and reduce car parking or congestion problems
• improve the health and productivity of the workforce

A Travel Plan could also be required to support future planning applications.
