Public Transport and a Travel Plan

Easy Ways

Often public transport isn't considered because people aren't aware of the options - make sure staff know about the public transport options to your site.

Think about the routes to bus stops and stations.

  • Are site entrances conveniently located?
  • Is the route well lit and maintained?
  • Is there a bus shelter?

Work with your local authority and the public transport provider to improve facilities.

Put a link on your intranet or website to Traveline Cymru to make it easy for employees and visitors to get information.

Encourage visitors to use public transport by making it the first option on your "How to find us" page and installing Traveline Cymru's Page Lander Wizard.

Have up-to-date timetables available - click here for information on public transport operators in Wales.

When planning meetings think about how participants will access the venue - is there a public transport option available? If not, should you change the venue?

Incentives and improvements

Can you provide loans (maybe even interest free) for staff to purchase annual season tickets?

Would a direct bus between the station and your site encourage more public transport use?

Talk to the local public transport provider - it might be possible to work with other local organisations to fund a shuttle bus.

Or is it possible to work with the local authority to provide a good walking route?
