Sewta (the South East Wales Transport Alliance) which consists of the 10 local authorities stretching from Bridgend to Monmouthshire, has set aside £100,000 from this year’s regional transport capital programme to support sustainable travel initiatives.
The grant scheme, now in its second year, can be used to support any measure that will cut the number of staff driving to work alone or improve access to sustainable transport.
More than £160,000 was handed out to organisations last year to provide facilities such as cycle stands, pool bikes and car share spaces.
Applications are now invited for the latest round of funding from organisations that employ more than 50 people full-time and are located within South East Wales.
The maximum grant available is £10,000 and applications must be made through an organisation’s local authority. Organisations must have a travel plan and be able to provide evidence that the scheme will help cut car use and cut carbon emissions.
The target date for completed application forms, which are available from www.gettravelwise.com is July 31st.
