News - Connecting Wales with Cymru Connect
20th May 2010
The Welsh Assembly Government in partnership with Arriva Trains Wales and Traveline Cymru are launching a brand new rail ticket in Wales, Cymru Connect
The new Cymru Connect ticket allows passengers to book a rail journey to places in Wales not formerly accessible on the rail network, for example Aberaeron and Mold, in one transaction using one ticket.
The way Cymru Connect works is that it incorporates key bus routes in Wales into the rail network meaning that passengers can book a ticket from any UK rail station and the ticket will include both their rail and bus fare.
The benefits of Cymru Connect to the customer are that they will be able to get to places in Wales that they in the past were unable to access following the closure of many rail lines by Dr Beeching in the 1960s.
Cymru Connect also ensures that passengers are offered a more time and cost effective rail and bus journey rather than a lengthy and often costly rail journey which at times can take them completely out of their way to get to their destination.
In short, Cymru Connect will enable passengers to make better, more informed travel arrangements for their journeys around Wales.
