News - Improved bus route for Rhondda Fach residents
7th March 2011
A bus route serving residents in the Rhondda Fach is being improved thanks to the support of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council
From 14th March 2011 the 155 Porth - Ferndale local bus service, operated by Stagecoach, will start at 09.32 from Stanleytown to allow residents to travel slightly earlier to the doctors’ surgery in Pontygwaith and Lidl’s store.
Councillor Andrew Morgan, Cabinet Member for Customer Care, Emergency Planning and Transport said,
“The majority of bus services are run by commercial operators although the Council does in some cases intervene where routes are considered socially necessary and works with the bus companies to subsidise those services.
“In this case, we are very pleased to be able to offer support to Stagecoach to introduce this additional and invaluable journey between Stanleytown to Tylorstown for their medical appointments and shopping.
“Once again this displays the Council’s commitment to playing its full role in improving the provision of public transport throughout the County Borough.
“We hope that residents will find the additional journey valuable and encourage more people to use public transport wherever possible.”
