Making the announcement, Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: This devolved government is determined to invest in and create a modern, sustainable, efficient transport network for the whole of Wales. Regional Transport Plans play a central part in this as councils work together to achieve this vision. I am pleased to be able to announce £22 million for the next financial year to enable local authorities to deliver improvements in their region and build on the progress we have made.
"The focus of the works will be on integrated transport with support for walking and cycling, helping us to deliver our commitment to encourage healthier and sustainable forms of transport. I expect the consortia to use this money wisely and help create a sustainable transport network.
