News - Name cardiff's new cycle network

6th April 2011

In 2010 we asked people in Cardiff to let us know what they thought were the most important issues to get right for cycling in Cardiff.

We took on board all of the comments to identify the key routes for cycling into, across and out of the city.

We are planning to develop a whole new cycle network for the city over the next 5 years or so, which will make it even safer and quicker to cycle around. The cycle network will be made up of 12 key routes. 4 routes already have names – the Taff, Ely, Rhymney and Bay trails.

We want YOU to come up with:

  • A. a name for the whole new cycle network to go with our new cycle map and logo
  • B. names for the 8 new routes

Maybe you would like to name the routes after animals or Welsh legends?

Or something as simple as “The Spice Network” with the routes named after spices such as Nutmeg or Cinnamon.

The winning names will be announced during the Cardiff Cycle Festival in June 2011, and the winning entry will get a £200 voucher to spend on a bike or cycling accessories! You can submit your entry:

Good luck!
