News - NextBuses for iPhone a Runaway Success in the App Store

6th April 2010

Malcolm Barclay's "NextBuses" application has been a ruaway success in the iTunes App Store

It reached No. 8 in the overall UK charts 4 days after release and is currently the No. 1 selling travel application.

NextBuses delivers departure information for 370,000 bus, coach and tram stops throughout England, Scotland & Wales. The application uses Travelines NextBuses service, which is also available on your mobile as WAP service or through the Traveline SMS service

I have always wanted to turn an iPhone into a departure board for any bus stop. Traveline allowed me access to the data so I could build this app, the response has been amazing says Barclay.

NextBuses can display a mixture of scheduled & real-time (where available) departure information based on the users location, a postcode or locality they enter. Many real time services are available in Wales.

Graham Walter, General Manager at Traveline Cymru said This app offers a new way to engage with the growing market of iPhone users. It takes a step forward as we continue to improve the accessibility of public transport information in Wales

The application is available now in the iTunes store for 59p.
